Experience

Evan represents the firm’s clients in corporate structuring, fundraising, governance and compliance matters, partnership and employment negotiations and disputes, corporate and real estate transactions and related litigation, and state and federal court proceedings and commercial arbitrations across the United States.  Due to the unique breadth of his corporate legal experience, he frequently serves as outside general counsel to his clients, providing strategic, results-driven advice on an ongoing basis to the founders, C-suites, and boards of startups and mid-market companies in a broad range of industries, including construction, real estate development, technology, healthcare, energy, and hospitality.

Evan built his practice on his experience as a corporate litigator.  Starting his legal career defending financial services companies, often in nationwide class actions, he developed an aptitude for navigating complex disputes and high-stakes negotiations.  In 2012, he left what is now the Global Financial Services Disputes and Investigations group of Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP to co-found Combs & Taylor, driven by the desire to offer a high-touch, personalized boutique firm alternative to clients looking for the holistic corporate legal representation that the largest law firms provide.

Evan grew up in New York City and lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.  He played soccer in college and follows Manchester United religiously.  To take his mind off work and United’s poor form, he runs and cooks.
